Abstract: This research paper examines the major themes of social justice and identity in the works of Arundhati Roy, one of the most influential contemporary Indian writers. Roy’s literary and non-fiction works address complex socio-political issues such as caste discrimination, gender inequality, environmental degradation, and state power. Through novels like The God of Small Things and The Ministry of Utmost Happiness, as well as essays such as The Algebra of Infinite Justice, Roy explores the struggles of marginalized individuals and communities. Her works challenge dominant narratives and question systems of oppression while emphasizing the importance of identity, resistance, and human dignity. This paper analyzes how Roy represents social justice and identity, highlighting her contribution to contemporary literature and political discourse.
