VIRTUAL REALITY IN COMPUTER SCIENCE EDUCATION

Abstract:
This paper examines the potential of virtual reality (VR) to enhance student understanding and engagement in core computer science concepts such as programming, data structures, and algorithms. It synthesizes recent empirical and review literature, proposes a mixed-methods research design for evaluating VR interventions in undergraduate CS courses, reports hypothetical findings based on synthesized evidence, and discusses pedagogical, technical, and assessment implications. The study argues that well-designed VR experiences can increase motivation, provide embodied metaphors for abstract concepts, and enable safe, manipulable environments for algorithm visualization, while also identifying practical constraints and research gaps.
