Integrating Clinical Simulation and Experiential Learning as Pedagogical Approaches in Nursing Education: Enhancing Improved Patient Care Outcomes

Abstract: This study, called "Integrating Clinical Simulation and Experiential Learning as Pedagogical Approaches in Nursing Education: Improving Patient Care," looked at how effective these teaching methods are in boosting nursing students' skills and readiness in Sulu Province, Philippines. The researchers wanted to see how combining theory with hands-on experience could help students perform better and provide better care. In-depth interviews were administered in tandem with survey questionnaires to 40 nursing students from both Notre Dame of Jolo College and Mindanao State University-Sulu, who answered the SOS survey, while 20 teachers shared their responses during in-depth interviews. The numerical results of the surveys indicated that there was a highly significant agreement on the usefulness of the two methods in decision-making, confidence, and management of complex cases, grading, and teaching quality, nearly hitting a perfect score of 5 on the Likert scale. The students felt more confident and skilled, while the teachers considered these techniques to be more effective. Although they cited some challenges like limited resources and more need for teacher training, everyone agreed these strategies are extremely beneficial and relevant to nursing education. It concluded that clinical simulation and experiential learning would require more investment and incorporation into teaching within nursing programs in order to best prepare practice-ready nurses. Future investigations into the long-term effects of these methods and simulation realism could better explain how the specific challenges faced vary according to an institution's resource scarcity.
